Career Days!

Career Days – Juniors!  See below for a slew of Career Days where you can get out to explore what is happening and get an understanding of careers at companies in various industries in the Portland area.  See what piques your interest.  Come to the CCC to register:

-       ZGF Architects, October 4, 9:30AM-2:00PM – interested in Architecture, Landscape and/or Urban Design?  You can visit ZGF to get a behind-the-scenes look at one of Portland’s leading firms – it’s the one with the windmills on top.  You’ll learn about the education and skills needed for a career in architecture, design a building with a team of students from other schools and go on a walking tour to explore building styles in downtown Portland.

-       Portland Fire and Rescue, October 6, 9:00AM-11:30AM – come join this action-packed Career Day where you’ll learn what it takes to work at Oregon’s largest fire and emergency services provider.  You’ll suit up and work out with Portland’s Fire and Rescue’s physical agility tests.   In addition, you’ll learn about their extensive public safety services, including emergency medical services. 

-       The Oregonian, October 20,9:00AM-12:00PM – The Oregonian is the largest media company in Oregon.  On this visit you’ll learn about the skills and education needed for a career in communications.  The pros will show you how they use video and photography to tell stories and then you’ll participate in a mock press conference.

-       Ziba Design, October 19 or 25, 9:00AM-11:30AM   - Explore what happens at this design and innovation consultancy.  You’ll meet a team of designers, strategists, thinkers and makers who embrace business challenges and solve problems for the world’s most iconic brands.

-       Cyber Security and Tech Project Management with the Multnomah County IT department, November 1, 9:00AM-12:00PM  - understand what it takes to fend off hackers, manage sensitive information and develop apps that help government run smoothly and take care of people.

-     OHSU Dental Exploring Program is looking for high school students wanting to explore dental careers.  The program meeting monthly for 2 hours at a time.  The first hour is composed of a lecture from dental school faculty while the second hour is hands-on laboratory experience.  Current OHSU dental students organize the meetings and serve as mentors.  Space is limited to 60 participants and is reserved on a first come first serve basis.  Go tohttp://www.ohsu.edu/xd/education/schools/school-of-dentistry/prospective-students/exploring-program.cfm for more information and an application form.
